About Me

That's me!!

Well I suppose you'd like to know something about me, otherwise I would have clicked on the about link.

Very well, I'll abide by your wishes. I've been around this little blue planet of ours since 1982. I was born in Brazil and I've spent a good portion of my life going to school. I'm planning on going back for a Master's degree but that's a few years away.

I've recently finished a degree in computer engineering at the University of Ottawa, where I was also involved in extracurricular activities with the IEEE Student Branch, ARISE, and the Engineering Endownment Fund.

I'm currently working at the IBM Ottawa Lab where I'm the J9 Development Tools lead. I get to spend my time working on Eclipse tooling, including contributions to CDT, and the Java API for embedded systems (J2ME).

You have hobbies?

I've been told I'm a running geek and I guess that's true. I love running and I could not fathom why someone would not love it too, hehe. I've just started running again, after a two year absence, so you might catch me running at any of the local races or just around town.

I'm happy to report that in the summer of 2005 I ran at the Canadian Marathon Championships which was amazing. I'm realy looking forward to trying some other marathons in the future. Expect to see me at the Boston Marathon and then the New York City Marathon someday.

Oh yeah, I also toy around with those computer thingies, though not as much as before. I find I just don't have as much time for it anymore. I've also been know to dabble with photography when time allows. You can see some of my photos in the Photo Gallery or at my Flickr album. If you happen to stop by Flickr, please leave a comment!!

That thing called music

If I had to pick one I'd probably say acid jazz and nu-jazz (ok that was two, I know). I also listen to a lot of trance, house, trip hop, downtempo, jazz, and some Brazilian rock. I guess you can see the trend of electronic music in there.

My musical taste ranges from trance/house and alternative rock to jazz and bossa nova. What does that entail? Things like Llorca, St. Germain, Dianna Krall, Our Lady Peace, Sarah McLachlan, Ottawa's own Liquified, and hailing from the UK Mr. Scruff and Zero 7.

Lately I've also taken a liking to Kosheen, Saint Etienne and Jean-Michel Jarre. Well I'm sure that by now you've already noticed the UK/France trend. I just can't help myself, I swear.

About Technicalworx.com

Technicalworx.com has come a long way from its humble beginings but it has always been and will always be just a place for the me to share ideas with the rest of the world.

Before I say anything else I'd like to thank Stefan D'Alessandro for allowing me to use a portion of his beautiful wallpaper as part of the Technicalworx.com v3.0 header.

Now back to Technicalworx, the site will always be a state of evolution as I add little things here and there when I have time. Some of you might have noticed that we switched everything to MovableType a while ago which things a lot easier. For example I can add news items and journal entries from anywhere in the world and have it show up instantly. Keep coming back often and you'll notice new things here and there every once in a while.
